During a work visit to Morocco, King Abdullah II of Jordan and King Mohammed VI stressed the need of protecting Muslim and Christian holy sites in Al Quds. The two sovereigns said that they support the Palestinian question and people. King Mohammed VI held, Thursday at the Casablanca Royal Palace, one-to-one talks with King Abdullah II of Jordan, who arrived Wednesday in Morocco for a working visit, report MAP news agency. During this meeting, the two sovereigns stressed the need of ending the Syrian crisis through a political solution. King Mohammed VI hailed the efforts made by the Hashemite Kingdom for receiving Syrian refugees, revealed a joint communiqué released Thursday. Moreover, the two Kings stressed that the Golan is an occupied Syrian territory and Israel's decision to annex it is illegal. To the two sovereigns Israel's decision violates UN resolutions. Regarding Iraq, the two leaders commended the efforts of the country in fighting against the terrorist organization, ISIS. Muslim and Christian holy sites in Al Quds Moreover, King Mohammed VI in his capacity as chairman of the Al Quds Committee, and King Abdullah II announced that they support the Palestinian people, denouncing all unilateral measures taken by Israel, especially those affecting Muslim and Christian holy sites in Al Quds. In this regard, King Mohammed VI emphasized the importance of the Hashemite custodianship over holy sites in Al Quds and the role it plays in protecting Al Aqsa Mosque, the Dome of the Rock (Kobbat Assakhra) and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher since 1946. For his part, King Abdullah II Ibn Hussein commended the continued efforts of King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, to support the Holy City, and highly praised the development projects and programs implemented by the Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif Agency, under the supervision of the King, to back the resistance of the inhabitants of the holy city, the same source adds. On the basis of their responsibilities, which stem from the Chairmanship of the Al-Quds Committee and the Hashemite guardianship, the two sovereigns stressed that the defense of Al-Quds and its sacred sites and their preservation against all attempts to alter their legal, historical and political status and their Muslim and Christian religious and civilizational character, is an absolute priority for the two brother Kingdoms.
