This Wednesday morning, April 30, the regional judicial police department in Beni Mellal launched a legal investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office. The investigation aims to uncover the circumstances and details surrounding the assault on an off-duty police officer and the theft of his private vehicle, which contained his service weapon. According to the initial information, the officer intervened to break up a nighttime altercation between a group of individuals. He then returned home to retrieve his service weapon and handcuffs in an attempt to arrest those involved. However, one of the suspects surprised him by brandishing a knife, seized his vehicle with his work equipment inside, and fled with two other individuals. Intensive investigations and security sweeps led to the arrest of three suspects involved in the incident. The firearm and its ammunition were recovered, along with two casings from service cartridges, which are suspected to have been used in the attack. The authorities are currently conducting ballistic analysis to determine the nature and circumstances of their use. The detainees have been placed under provisional custody as part of the ongoing judicial investigation. Meanwhile, efforts continue to investigate all parties connected to the case in order to uncover its full background and true motives.
