Four investment protocols were signed on Wednesday in Rabat to implement projects worth a total of 500 million dirhams, led by Catalan companies. The agreements were signed during a meeting between Karim Zidane, Minister Delegate for Investment, Harmonization, and Evaluation of Public Policies, and a major delegation of Catalan business leaders, headed by Josep Sanchez i Llibre, President of Foment del Treball, the largest employers' federation in Catalonia. These projects, expected to create over 700 direct jobs in Tangier, Tetouan, and Kenitra, span several sectors including automotive, waste recovery, packaging, and building materials. They illustrate Morocco's capacity to transform economic partnerships into concrete, job-creating opportunities for its youth. This meeting, part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen Moroccan-Spanish economic ties, also provided an opportunity for Zidane to highlight Morocco's exceptional momentum in attracting investment. He stressed that, under the wise leadership of King Mohammed VI, Morocco aspires to position itself as a competitive and sustainable regional hub. For his part, Josep Sanchez Llibre expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended to the Catalan delegation during their visit to explore investment opportunities in Morocco, describing the Kingdom as a strategic destination. «Catalan investments will increasingly flow into Morocco», he stated. «I can already announce that we'll be back in less than a year with a new delegation of around 20 Catalan companies to explore further opportunities». This meeting comes as part of the ongoing «Morocco Now» roadshows, held in Barcelona in January 2024 and in Madrid in April 2025, as well as the first visit of the Foment delegation to Morocco in June 2024. The event reflects the growing dynamism of a structured bilateral cooperation based on mutual trust, a shared vision for sustainable development, and strategic convergence between economic actors on both sides of the Mediterranean.
