Human remains were discovered last Monday during redevelopment work on Jibran Khalil Jibran Street in the city of El Jadida, causing a stir among the city's security forces. A bulldozer leveling the area uncovered a skull and several human bones. The authorities collected the remains, placed them in a plastic bag, and transferred them to the morgue at Mohamed V Regional Hospital. Meanwhile, the public prosecutor's office at the Court of Appeal initiated the necessary legal procedures, ordering detailed laboratory analyses of the bones at the forensic department in Rahma Cemetery. These tests aim to determine the cause of death and rule out any criminal involvement, according to the newspaper Assabah. Informed sources indicated that the incident likely has no criminal background, suggesting the remains may be from an old burial. The analysis results are expected in the coming days, after which the remains will be reburied officially in accordance with established procedures. It is worth noting that in 2006, remains from the referenced cemetery were transferred to Rahma Cemetery following a fatwa issued by the local scientific council of El Jadida. The transfer was supervised by a mixed committee that ensured all religious rites were observed, including re-shrouding, prayer, and reburial.
