The Night of Museums and Cultural Spaces (NMEC) returns for its fourth edition on Thursday, June 26, under the theme «Moroccan Youth, Guardians of Tomorrow's Heritage». The event offers free public access to museums and cultural venues from 5 PM to midnight across multiple cities in Morocco. This year, the focus is on engaging young people, aiming to deepen their understanding of Morocco's artistic and cultural heritage. According to organizers, the goal is to transform museums into «spaces of awakening, dialogue, and transmission». The edition is organized by the National Foundation of Museums (FNM) in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication (MJCC), the Ministries of National Education and Higher Education, and the Majorelle Garden Foundation (FJM). The official launch takes place at 5 PM at the Oudayas, home to the National Jewelry Museum, with the inauguration of the exhibition «Caftan of Yesterday, Today's Perspective», celebrating this traditional garment as a symbol of ancestral elegance. The evening continues at the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, which will host «Horizon(s) in Motion: A Hundred Years of Artistic Quests in Morocco 1920–2020». This permanent exhibition showcases over 200 works and offers an immersive journey through the history of modern and contemporary Moroccan art. Organizers aim for this NMEC to be «a moment of intergenerational transmission, a meeting of history and creation, and an invitation to make culture a vector of pride, emancipation, and future». Museums and cultural spaces in other cities will offer diverse programs including exhibitions, guided tours, and film screenings. This edition will also feature the signing of three agreements by the FNM to «strengthen the bridges between culture, education, and youth». One agreement with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports aims to integrate culture into the school curriculum and promote free educational visits to museums. Agreements with the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation will facilitate free access to museums for teachers, researchers, and students, encourage heritage research, and support academic initiatives.
