DR ‹ › Moroccans have made a notable impact on the list of recipients of European Union nationalities in 2024, as revealed by the latest figures from the European Statistics Office, «Eurostat». Ranking at the high end of the spectrum, Moroccans are the second on the list of those acquiring EU nationalities, with 97,100 individuals. They are right on the heels of the front-running Syrians, who secured the right to 110,100 new nationalities, and right on the heels of the third-place Albanians, who registered 48,000. Eurostat reports that in 2024, around 1.2 million people acquired the nationality of the EU countries where they reside, marking an 11.6% increase—or 122,700 additional people—compared to 2023. At the front of granting these new nationalities was Germany, with 288,700 (accounting for 24.5% of the EU total), followed by Spain with 252,500 (21.4%), and Italy with 217,400 (18.5%). Notably, individuals from outside the European Union comprised the largest group of beneficiaries, making up 88.0%, while citizens from other EU countries represented 10.6%.
