The Public Prosecutor's Office at the Benguérir Court of First Instance clarified on Friday that the arrest of two individuals, falsely portrayed on social media as arbitrary, was carried out in accordance with legal procedures. The two men, who were visibly intoxicated, allegedly insulted police officers, caused a disturbance at a police station, and damaged public property. The first individual was arrested early on the morning of June 27 while live-streaming a video showing the police station and citizens accessing its on-call services. During the video, he was in contact with someone abroad and was discussing an ongoing case before the Marrakech Court of Appeal. While being detained, he reportedly directed insults at police officers. His brother, also under the influence, then forced his way into the police station, disrupted operations, insulted officers, and broke a window. Following the instructions of the Public Prosecutor, both men were placed in custody. They were taken to a hospital for medical examinations in line with established procedures. The Prosecutor's Office emphasized that the custody was conducted in full compliance with legal safeguards. The two suspects will be brought before the judiciary once the investigation concludes.
