A prisoner held at Larache Local Prison under Morocco's anti-terrorism law, linked to the so-called «Chamharouch» cell, died Tuesday evening in his isolation cell, the prison administration announced. According to a statement from the facility, the inmate, who suffered from psychological disorders, was under medical supervision and receiving appropriate treatment. He had been seen by the prison doctor just hours before his death due to flu symptoms. Following standard legal procedures, the public prosecutor was notified and dispatched members of the Royal Gendarmerie to examine the body, accompanied by the prison's medical staff. The inmate's family was also informed of his death. The so-called «Chamharouch» cell was behind the 2018 Imlil attack that claimed the lives of two Scandinavian tourists. Investigations revealed that three perpetrators involved were affiliated with Daesh. In 2023, two of them, both sentenced to death, died by suicide in separate incidents in the prisons of Oujda and Ras El Ma.
