On Wednesday, July 9, the Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH) submitted a letter to the Public Prosecutor's Office, calling for an urgent and thorough judicial investigation into the death of 15-year-old Mohamed Bouislikhen. His body was found hanged in a remote wooded area in the Midelt Province, on June 16, under what the association described as «mysterious and suspicious» circumstances. According to the AMDH branch in Boumia, the teenager's body was discovered in a position suggesting the scene may have been staged to resemble a suicide. However, local reports have raised the possibility of foul play, prompting concerns about the nature of the death and the handling of the case. In its complaint, the association called for a neutral and comprehensive investigation that explores all possible scenarios. It urged authorities to question all relevant parties, particularly the victim's family, and requested access to the medical autopsy findings, the identity of the supervising authority, and assurances of confidentiality. The association also called for an administrative inquiry into how the discovery of the body was managed on the ground. Coinciding with the complaint, an AMDH delegation staged a symbolic protest outside the Public Prosecutor's Office in Rabat. The protest was attended by representatives from the organization's central office and the local Boumia branch. During the demonstration, the victim's parents were received by officials, and the delegation was informed that a formal investigation would be opened in accordance with legal procedures. A day earlier, the Attorney General at the Errachidia Court of Appeals confirmed that preliminary autopsy results indicated the cause of death was strangulation with a rope. The report found no signs of sexual or physical assault on the body, contradicting some claims circulating on social media.
