A total of 46,650 families have completed the construction or rehabilitation of their homes as part of the reconstruction and development program for areas affected by the Al-Haouz earthquake, according to a statement from the Department of the Head of Government. The total financial support allocated for the reconstruction and repair of damaged homes has now exceeded 4.2 billion dirhams, while emergency assistance payments, set at 2,500 dirhams per month, have surpassed 2.4 billion dirhams. The announcement followed a meeting of the Interministerial Commission overseeing the earthquake recovery program, chaired by Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch on Thursday in Rabat. One significant development noted was the dramatic decrease in the number of tents, from 129,000 to just 47, which are expected to be fully dismantled by September. The commission also reported that local committees had identified practical solutions for 4,895 homes located in difficult-to-access areas. Opening the meeting, Akhannouch urged the High Atlas Development Agency and all relevant stakeholders to accelerate implementation of the remaining projects with greater speed and efficiency. In terms of infrastructure, the upgrading of four sections of National Road RN7 is progressing, with work completion rates of 25% and 65%. Construction has begun on 165 kilometers of roads and 29 engineering structures, backed by a 920 million dirham budget. In healthcare, 70 health centers have already been rehabilitated, with 35 more expected to be completed by the end of August 2025, and an additional 14 by the end of October 2025.
