The United Arab Emirates has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office (OMPIC) and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, aiming to enhance cooperation in the field of intellectual property (IP). The agreements were signed in the presence of Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, on the sidelines of the Sixty-Sixth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), held in Geneva, according to Emirates News Agency (WAM). These MoUs aim to support the UAE's efforts to develop a comprehensive and globally aligned IP ecosystem, in line with international best practices. They cover several strategic areas, including digital transformation, talent development, and increased coordination in industrial property and patent registration, reports Bahrain News Agency on Monday. The agreements also promote the use of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to modernize and enhance the efficiency of patent search and classification processes. Minister Bin Touq emphasized the importance of these partnerships in exchanging technical expertise, simplifying administrative procedures, and strengthening global cooperation. He described the collaboration with Morocco and Spain as a milestone in the UAE's strategy to build an innovation-driven economy anchored in robust intellectual property systems.
