Police officers at the Tangier Med Port security zone successfully foiled an international smuggling attempt on Sunday, July 20. The operation involved a shipment of cocaine weighing 25 kilograms, seized from an international freight container, according to a security source. A security inspection of the container, which had arrived from a South American port and was en route to the Netherlands, led to the discovery of 23 tightly packed slabs hidden within the container's refrigeration system. The Tangier Judicial Police have opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor's office to uncover all local and international links connected to this cross-border drug trafficking operation. This operation is part of ongoing efforts by Moroccan security services to combat international drug trafficking networks, particularly those dealing in hard drugs and smuggled psychotropic substances.
