Morocco has become the first contributor to the International Organization for Migration's (IOM) Resilience Fund, announced IOM Director General Amy Pope on Monday. «We are proud to announce that Morocco has made an exceptional voluntary contribution to the newly launched IOM Resilience Fund, becoming the first Member State to do so», she wrote in a LinkedIn post. The IOM Resilience Fund is a global campaign aimed at raising USD 100 million in flexible funding to support the organization's core humanitarian operations and emergency responses for migrants and displaced populations. According to Pope, Morocco's contribution will help «ensure IOM remains agile, accountable, and ready to deliver for people on the move, wherever and whenever it's needed most», reinforcing the Kingdom's «leadership in global migration governance and solidarity with vulnerable communities on the move». «It embodies the very purpose of the Resilience Campaign: to mobilize flexible, unearmarked resources that allow IOM to respond swiftly to crises, strengthen field operations, and future-proof our core capacities, from emergency response to protection and counter-trafficking», she added. Announced alongside its 2024 Annual Report in June, IOM's Resilience Fund aims to protect essential systems, such as emergency aid delivery, data tools, and migration support, that helped over 26 million people across 186 countries last year. With only 5% of IOM's income currently coming from flexible sources, the fund is critical to maintaining rapid, needs-based responses and ensuring institutional stability.
