On Monday, the public prosecutor's office in Tetouan instructed the judicial police to open an investigation into the discovery of a headless body in an advanced state of decomposition. The remains were found by fishermen aboard a deep-sea fishing vessel off the coast of M'diq while working with their nets. According to Al Akhbar newspaper, the prosecutor ordered that the body be transferred to the morgue at Mohammed VI Regional Hospital in M'diq for a medical autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and attempt to identify the victim through technical and forensic analysis. Detailed reports on the case are being prepared. Investigators are exploring several possibilities, including foul play or accidental drowning linked to irregular migration, pending the results of the autopsy and official records that will guide further legal action. Similar incidents have been reported in the past aboard deep-sea fishing boats, with some cases involving the recovery of bodies later identified as clandestine migrants. In other cases, survivors were rescued after being swept far off course by ocean currents before being handed over to the relevant authorities or maritime gendarmerie patrols.
