In Civitanova, Italy, a routine patrol turned into a bizarre arrest when a 51-year-old Moroccan man, undocumented and living in a tent, tried to hide his stash in the most unusual way possible, by swallowing it. Already known to the police, the man was caught selling two doses of heroin near the Chienti river cycle path. Officers later found nearly 24 grams of heroin, including pre-packaged doses and smaller quantities, plus less than one gram of cocaine in his tent, Italian media reported on Thursday. But the real surprise came at the hospital: two half-gram doses of heroin and cocaine were found in his stomach, and two ovules containing over 11 grams of heroin were lodged in his intestines. The Carabinieri also seized a switchblade, €500 in cash, and a precision scale. Charged with drug trafficking and carrying a weapon, his arrest was validated in Macerata. While awaiting a fast-track trial in October, he has been banned from staying in Civitanova.
