OCP Nutricrops has signed two Memorandums of Understanding with OCP Green Water and INNOVX to advance the industrial-scale use of CO2 captured at the Jorf Lasfar platform, the world's largest integrated phosphate fertilizer complex, the company said Wednesday in a press release. The first MoU, with OCP Green Water, commits to channeling captured CO2 into large-scale desalination projects, where it plays a key role in pH adjustment and remineralization, securing sustainable water supplies for industry, agriculture, and cities. The second, with INNOVX, focuses on developing new carbon-based solutions for agriculture and industry, including low-carbon fertilizers and innovative plant nutrition products. Starting in 2027, fertilizer production units will be equipped with carbon-capture modules to ensure a steady supply of CO2 for these projects and Morocco's wider industry. «Today's MoU marks a milestone in our decarbonisation journey, supporting green fertiliser production as well as Morocco's desalination ambitions and industrial growth, by providing a reliable local supply of carbon», said Youssef El Bari, CEO of OCP Nutricrops. These agreements, also backed by OCP's Manufacturing SBU and OCP Green Water, are part of the Group's drive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040, while building a circular carbon economy that combines decarbonisation, water resilience, and food security.
