The new cruise terminal at the Port of Casablanca, recently inaugurated by King Mohammed VI, welcomed its first cruise ship at dawn on Friday, marking a milestone for cruise tourism in Morocco's economic capital. In a lively atmosphere with musical performances, passengers from the Island Sky, carrying around 100 travelers, were introduced to a world-class facility designed to deliver a seamless, digitalized experience that combines safety, comfort, and high-quality service. «It is a wonderful opportunity for us to be the very first ship to dock at Casablanca's new cruise terminal. It is rare to have the privilege of inaugurating such infrastructure», said George Robert Hendry, captain of the Island Sky. «We are very pleased to see that this terminal fully meets the needs of all types of vessels. As captain, it is an honor to return to Casablanca under these conditions. It is a very special day for me, my crew, and our passengers», he added. Passengers on board also praised the warm welcome and smooth experience. «It's a real joy to be here on such a beautiful day. Morocco is a wonderful country, and I hope to return often, especially after having already discovered Tangier», said Robert, a British traveler. A Scottish couple added: «We had a wonderful trip aboard the Island Sky, and the welcome in Casablanca was remarkable. Everything went smoothly in a very pleasant atmosphere». The new cruise terminal, built to international standards, strengthens Casablanca's tourism appeal while supporting the city's growing cruise industry. With an investment of 720 million dirhams, the project is part of the broader restructuring and development program for the Casablanca Port Complex, aimed at boosting the city's economic and tourism profile. With an annual capacity of 450,000 passengers, the terminal is equipped to accommodate ships up to 350 meters long and 45 meters wide, with a depth of 9 meters.
