Moroccan athlete Elhousine Elazzaoui clinched the world championship title on Sunday in Italy, triumphing in the grand finale of the Golden Trail World Series. Following his victory in the prologue on Friday, the Moroccan trail runner dazzled once more on Sunday, securing the top spot in the series finale at Garda Trentino, a demanding 21 km race with a 1,600 m elevation gain. Elazzaoui's triumph marks the culmination of a remarkable season, with four consecutive victories across Spain (Zegama-Aizkorri), the United States (Broken Arrow Skyrace), Mexico (Tepec Trail), and Italy (Ledro Sky Trentino). This achievement, alongside his world title win for the second consecutive year, places him ahead of Kenyan competitors Patrick Kipngeno and Philemon Kiriago. In the race, Paul Machoka initially took the lead, but Elazzaoui launched a determined pursuit. The decisive moment came during the descent, where the Moroccan athlete surged ahead, ultimately crossing the finish line at Lake Ledro as the victor with a time of 1h58'30. Kipngeno made an impressive comeback to secure second place with a time of 1h58'50, while Machoka completed the podium in third, clocking in at 1h59'32. In the women's category, Romanian Madalina Florea was crowned world champion on Saturday, finishing with a time of 2h25'22.
