Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou has praised the talent of Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, saying he feels the young player is «one of Morocco's own» despite his decision to represent Spain at the international level. Speaking to TyC Sports, Bounou said: «Honestly, I feel that Lamine Yamal is one of us, even though he chose to represent Spain. Everyone is free to play for the national team they wish to represent, as long as they don't speak ill of us or throw stones in Morocco's direction». Bounou's remarks come amid ongoing debate over Yamal's choice. Born in Spain to a Moroccan father, the 17-year-old forward opted to play for La Roja despite calls from Moroccan fans urging him to represent his ancestral homeland. «When I watch Lamine, I truly enjoy it», Bounou added. «It's been a long time since I've watched a match just for one player. We wish him all the best, he seems like a good young man».
