Ten young creative filmmakers from across the Mediterranean pitched their film projects to an international jury on Wednesday as part of the Tétouan Workshops program. Dedicated to supporting fiction and documentary feature film projects, these workshops, now in their third edition, are organized alongside the 30th Tétouan Mediterranean Film Festival (FCMT). Designed as one of the festival's flagship initiatives, the program aims to foster cinematic creation by offering a space for training, networking, and artistic development. This year, 10 projects were selected from 138 submissions after a rigorous review process conducted by industry professionals and experts. Participants were divided into two categories. In the documentary section: Leila Albayaty (France), Ayoub Boudadi (Morocco), Aurélia Makdessi (France), and Fulgencio Martínez (Spain). In the fiction section: Yassine Fennane (Morocco), Ines Ben Othman (Tunisia), Hamza Atifi (Morocco), Yılmaz Özdil (Turkey), Kenza Tazi (Morocco), and Essam Hayder (Egypt). The jury included Layaly Badr (Palestine/Jordan), a writer and screenwriter specializing in cinematic storytelling; Mohamed Noureddine Afaya (Morocco), a writer and academic whose work explores artistic creation and cultural transmission; Christoph Thoke (Germany), a producer known for his international co-productions and dedication to film training; and Ignacio Vuelta (Spain), a director and producer involved in developing audiovisual projects and mentoring emerging talents. The two Moroccan participants, Ayoub Boudadi and Kenza Tazi, received additional training during the festival to strengthen their skills in presenting and defending artistic projects before professional juries. In a statement to MAP, Mohamed Noureddine Afaya highlighted that the workshops offer «a stimulating and enriching experience» that reaffirms the festival's commitment to fostering aesthetic and intellectual approaches that give cinema its true creative depth.
