Moroccan diplomacy has embarked on a robust campaign to elucidate the United Nations Security Council's resolution on the Western Sahara issue, adopted on October 31, to various foreign nations. As part of this initiative, official letters have been dispatched to these countries to articulate the kingdom's stance and avert any potential confusion or misinterpretation, according to a source familiar with the matter who spoke to Yabiladi. These communications stress, in line with Resolution 2797, the key parties involved in the Western Sahara dossier: Morocco, Algeria, the Polisario Front, and Mauritania. These parties are urged to engage in the negotiation process that the United Nations plans to reinvigorate in the coming weeks. Staffan de Mistura also highlighted these four parties during his press briefing on Wednesday. Moroccan diplomacy further underscores the one-year timeframe set by the UN Security Council to achieve a definitive resolution of the conflict. Rabat's message emphasizes the necessity of adapting MINURSO's mandate to this new phase to effectively support the forthcoming steps of the UN process.
