Celtic FC have reportedly made an enquiry about Moroccan U20 captain Houssam Essadak, according to media reports. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder, who led Morocco to victory at the U20 World Cup, has drawn interest from several European clubs, including Sunderland. Essadak was close to joining Las Palmas last summer in a £400,000 deal, but the move fell through after the Spanish club's relegation from La Liga. With his contract set to expire next summer, Celtic are said to be exploring a possible January move, though no official confirmation has been made. The Scottish champions, currently struggling with injuries and a managerial vacancy, are expected to reinforce their squad during the upcoming winter transfer window, according to local media. Trained at the Mohammed VI Football Academy, Essadak now plays for Union Touarga. Internationally, he captained Morocco's U20 side to major success, winning the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup, the 2024 UNAF U20 Tournament, and earning a spot in the Team of the Tournament at the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
