Moroccan runner Saïd Asamar emerged victorious at the eighth edition of the El Jadida half-marathon on Sunday, an event organized by the Mazagan Association under the theme «Sport for Development». Asamar claimed the championship by completing the 18.79 km course in 1 hour, 7 minutes, and 23 seconds. He outpaced Ayoub Abousad, who finished second with a time of 1 hour, 7 minutes, and 47 seconds, and Mohammed Rida Ettoumi, who secured third place in 1 hour, 7 minutes, and 52 seconds. In the women's category, Maroua Chiheb took the top spot with a time of 1 hour, 32 minutes, and 15 seconds. She was followed by Sanaa Abdeljabbar, who finished in 1 hour, 54 minutes, and 55 seconds, and Malak Messaoudi, who crossed the finish line in 2 hours, 21 minutes, and 7 seconds. In the 10 km race, Abdessalam Kartouf claimed the men's title by completing the course in 32 minutes and 48 seconds. Hafid Jouhari came in second with a time of 33 minutes and 54 seconds, while Ahmed Maji took third place, finishing in 34 minutes and 54 seconds. On the women's side, Safae Chboubi captured the title, completing the distance in 48 minutes and 50 seconds. She was closely followed by Badia Elmir, who clocked in at 49 minutes and 10 seconds, and Hiba El Amri, who finished in 54 minutes and 4 seconds. Reflecting on his victory, Saïd Asamar expressed his delight in a statement to the press, commending the organization, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit of the event. Similarly, Safae Chboubi shared her pride in winning the 10 km race, highlighting the exceptional organizational and technical standards of the event. Abdelmajid El Gharbi, director of the El Jadida half-marathon and 10 km race, remarked to MAP that this edition's organizational conditions, coinciding with the celebrations of the Green March and Independence Day, were commendable. The closing ceremony featured the awarding of prizes to the winners and tributes to several sports figures and contributors, creating a festive atmosphere that celebrated the values of sport and perseverance. This sporting event, which attracted over 1,450 runners, stands as one of El Jadida's major annual sporting highlights, promoting athletics in the region.
