The Moroccan taekwondo team made a strong impression on Sunday in Riyadh, winning two medals at the 6th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games. Star athlete Haitam Zarhouti captured the gold medal in the under-82 kg category, triumphing over Iran's Amirreza Sadeghi with a decisive 2-0 victory. Meanwhile, in the women's under-51 kg category, Oumaima El Bouchti secured the bronze medal, defeating Pakistan's Fateemaah Khawar with a score of 2-0. Speaking to the press after the medal ceremony, Haitam Zarhouti highlighted the prestige of the under-82 kg category, noting the presence of Olympic and world champions from across the Islamic world. He expressed that this medal is a significant milestone in his athletic career. With these achievements, Morocco's medal count rises to 13, comprising 6 golds, 2 silvers, and 5 bronzes, temporarily placing them 8th in the overall standings.
