Moroccan athlete Hamza Sam clinched the bronze medal in the kumite (-84 kg) category on Sunday in Rabat, at the 19th Mohammed VI International Karate Cup. To secure the bronze, Hamza Sam defeated Turkey's Hassan Arsalan with a score of 5–1. The gold medal went to Jordan's Mohamed Jaafari, while Greece's Mastrogiannis Konstantinos took silver. Italy's Michael Martina earned the second bronze. Speaking to the press, Hamza Sam expressed his joy at winning a medal in his first participation in this major event. He thanked the audience for their support, which, he said, helped him achieve this performance. He noted that the bout against his Turkish opponent was particularly challenging due to Arsalan's experience in international tournaments. Hamza Sam added that this bronze medal will motivate him to train even harder to excel in future international competitions. The event, held under the auspices of the World Karate Federation (WKF), saw unprecedented participation from athletes, coaches, referees, technical staff, and officials representing over 80 countries.
