South Africa is set to host the 11th G20 summit on November 22 and 23. In a move reminiscent of the 2023 BRICS summit, President Cyril Ramaphosa's administration has invited sixteen non-G20 nations to participate. The current guest list features Denmark, Egypt, Finland, Ireland, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates. Discussions are ongoing to finalize the addition of four more countries to this roster. «Pretoria, much like Algiers, is considering extending an invitation to the Polisario for this event. However, there are concerns about potential pushback from key European political and economic powers within the G20. The absence of U.S. President Donald Trump from the summit has somewhat tempered South Africa's enthusiasm for including the Polisario. Yet, with the summit's commencement just days away, the situation remains fluid», a well-informed source revealed to Yabiladi. Previously, the South African government invited the Polisario to the BRICS summit in August 2023, held in Johannesburg. This invitation enabled Brahim Ghali to deliver a speech at the gathering and to appear alongside the bloc's heads of state. South Africa's backing was evident in the final communiqué of the meeting.
