Following the military pact established last June, Morocco and Ethiopia are further solidifying their security ties with the signing of a memorandum of understanding focused on intelligence sharing. This agreement was formalized on the sidelines of the 93rd General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), held in Marrakech from November 24 to 27. The memorandum was signed by Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, and the Commissioner General of the Ethiopian Federal Police. It aims to enhance coordination between the two nations in their fight against various forms of violent and organized crime that pose a threat to their security. This collaboration also enables Moroccan security services to offer their Ethiopian counterparts crucial support in training, technical assistance, and intelligence. The objective is to develop human resources and bolster capacities for crime prevention and control. As a reminder, on June 13, 2025, in Rabat, Morocco and Ethiopia had previously signed an agreement on military cooperation, which includes training, exercises, joint drills, as well as scientific research and military health.
