Abdellah Bouanou, leader of the Justice and Development Party's parliamentary group in Morocco's House of Representatives, announced that Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi has issued an apology to parliamentarian Abdessamad Haikar and the entire group. Ouahbi admitted that he let his emotions get the better of him, resulting in an inability to control his words. In a Facebook post, Bouanou remarked, «The incident during the oral questions session on Monday, December 1, 2025, generally fits within this context, although there were some verbal excesses by the Minister of Justice and unnecessary 'hype' from the session's president. The president's poor conduct and breach of the House's rules only exacerbated the situation, as is often the case when he presides over a council session.» The session was marked by intense exchanges between Minister Ouahbi and MPs from the Justice and Development Party, following Ouahbi's response to a query from the National Rally of Independents regarding a draft law on notarial regulations. After the session adjourned, tensions flared further when Haikar confronted the minister, declaring, «This nonsense must stop», to which Ouahbi retorted, insulting his father. Bouanou emphasized that the apology is «necessary and important», noting that while the psychological effects may linger because we are all human, it is crucial to move beyond emotional reactions and learn from the incident. He stressed that words carry a weight of responsibility that goes beyond the political stature of the speaker, be it a minister or a parliamentarian. Bouanou concluded by asserting that the incident is unacceptable by any measure, yet it will not deter the Justice and Development Party's parliamentary group from maintaining its political discourse or its oversight initiatives concerning the government and its ministers.
