DR ‹ › Last November, Morocco and France held the thirty-second edition of their joint military exercises, known as «Chebec 25». The drill brought together the Moroccan frigate Mohammed VI and the French frigate La Fayette for a coordinated passage through the Strait of Gibraltar, along with joint maneuvers in both the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The objective was to strengthen operational readiness and improve interoperability between the two naval forces. «Chebec 25» unfolded over four consecutive phases. The first phase, from November 7 to 12, focused on theoretical and practical training at French naval facilities in Toulon and at the Hyères air-naval base, including technical workshops, tactical briefings, and advanced simulator sessions. The second phase, from November 12 to 17, moved to sea for complex maritime maneuvers en route to Tangier. The third phase centered on exchanging expertise and assessing operational performance. The final phase, from November 20 to 22, was dedicated to joint operational patrols, including maritime surveillance drills and coordinated crisis-response simulations. The scenarios rehearsed during «Chebec 25» covered command and control procedures, tactical coordination, crisis management, damage control and firefighting, as well as counter-submarine threat responses. «Chebec 25» forms part of a broader Moroccan-French security and defense cooperation program for 2025. It follows the land exercise «Chergui 2025», held in October, and complements a joint security action plan signed last June aimed at combating terrorism and irregular migration.
