DR ‹ › Local authorities in Midelt Province, working closely with all relevant departments, continue to mobilize extensively to manage the impact of recent severe weather, following an approach focused on anticipation and risk prevention. In Imilchil, a predominantly mountainous commune, preventive measures were activated immediately after the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) issued alerts forecasting heavy rainfall and/or snowfall. All necessary human and logistical resources were deployed to mitigate the effects of the weather conditions, and field teams were reinforced to ensure faster and more efficient interventions. Across the province, authorities have implemented several proactive measures. These include transferring pregnant women and people with chronic illnesses to maternity homes and health centers for safer care, as well as providing targeted households with adequate supplies of firewood, food, and blankets. Efforts also focus on assisting vulnerable individuals and protecting livestock, in addition to clearing isolated areas in line with action plans reviewed regularly by the local vigilance committee, which oversees coordination, monitoring, and assessment of interventions. In a statement to MAP, the provincial director of Equipment, Transport, and Logistics, Bendaoud Osman, reported the deployment of significant human and logistical resources, including graders and snowplows, in anticipation of snowfall. He noted that intervention teams are stationed in several areas experiencing heavy snow, particularly Imilchil, Hjiret, Tizi n'Tlghemt, and Anemzi. The snow-covered road network in Midelt Province extends over 700 km, he said, highlighting the importance of these operations to maintain traffic flow and ensure the safety of road users.
