DR ‹ › The International Forum on Sport, initiated by the House of Representatives, kicked off on Thursday in Rabat, spotlighting the theme «Towards a National Strategy for the Promotion of Sport». This forum is part of the efforts by a dedicated thematic group tasked with assessing the national sports strategy from 2008 to 2020. It strives to create a platform for deliberating on the key drivers for advancing national sports policies, positioning them as a cornerstone of socio-economic integration. The opening session featured speeches from prominent figures, including the President of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami; the Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, Mohamed Saad Berrada; the President of the Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM), Faïçal Laraichi; the Vice-President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Nawal El Moutawakel; the President of the thematic group evaluating the national sports strategy, Chahid Abderrahim; the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for the Maghreb, Charaf Ahmimed; and the representative of the Morocco 2030 Foundation, Jelloul Ainouch. The forum seeks to gauge the current landscape of the sports system by facilitating the exchange of perspectives, ideas, and strategies among diverse stakeholders. It also aims to share international best practices and successful experiences, particularly in terms of infrastructure development and human resource enhancement. This event draws a diverse audience, including government and parliamentary members, representatives from national and international organizations, clubs and associations, as well as experts, academics, journalists, and both Moroccan and international participants. Workshops are set to address four key areas: the promotion of sports and physical activity, sports governance and financing, sports training and coaching, and sports media.
