DR ‹ › The Rabat Regional Heritage Development Society (RRPH) has officially launched Rabat Patrimoine, an audio-guided mobile application designed to promote the capital's cultural heritage. Available free of charge on the web, Android, and iOS, the app combines heritage, technology, and accessibility to showcase eight UNESCO World Heritage components in Rabat, along with their buffer zones. Aimed at residents, visitors, and heritage enthusiasts, the initiative encourages the discovery of the city's globally recognized heritage through an immersive, digital, and interactive experience. According to a press release, the application offers «a rich and adaptable itinerary for all audiences» in four languages—Arabic, French, English, and Spanish—allowing users to «freely explore the capital's iconic sites through several themed circuits». The first circuit is dedicated to Rabat's World Heritage listing, presenting «each component of the UNESCO-listed site and its buffer zone». A second circuit provides «an overview of Rabat's heritage». The app also features four thematic routes: «the Grand Tour», linking the city's major landmarks; «the museum circuit»; «the natural heritage discovery» circuit; and the «architectural and urban» circuit. Featuring narrative audio guides, interactive maps, geolocated sites, and diverse multimedia content, the app «reveals the history, architecture, and cultural richness of Rabat», the developers noted. Developed in partnership with several institutional stakeholders, the project also aims to support restoration and maintenance programs within the governance framework of the World Heritage site «Rabat, Modern Capital and Historic City: a Shared Heritage». As part of a broader cultural and tourism promotion strategy, the initiative seeks to enhance the visibility and value of «the sites and components listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List», thereby strengthening the region's attractiveness.
