Samuel Eto'o President of Fécafoot / DR ‹ › The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has sanctioned Samuel Eto'o with a four-match suspension and a $20,000 fine (approximately 200,000 dirhams) following his conduct after Cameroon's quarter-final defeat to Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. While watching the match from the stands, Eto'o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, was seen angrily addressing Moroccan Football Federation president Fouzi Lekjaa as well as CAF president Patrice Motsepe. His behavior did not go unnoticed by the continental governing body. Morocco's decisive victory did not put an end to the controversy. In Cameroon, post-match debate has largely centered on refereeing decisions, particularly a disputed incident involving forward Bryan Mbeumo. FECAFOOT, which considers the sanction excessive, responded with an official statement. The federation said it does not understand CAF's decision and denounced what it described as a rushed procedure that failed to meet "the fundamental requirements of a fair trial." In a separate development, CAF also announced the opening of an investigation into the Algeria–Nigeria match, following incidents that occurred after the final whistle.
