DR ‹ › King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Quds Committee, has accepted an invitation from U.S. President Donald J. Trump to join, as a founding member, the Peace Council that the American president plans to launch, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad announced. According to the statement, the initiative aims to contribute to peace efforts in the Middle East and to promote a renewed global approach to conflict resolution. Membership in the Council will be limited to a select group of international leaders recognized for their commitment to stability and to building a secure future for coming generations. The invitation extended to the Sovereign, the ministry noted, constitutes recognition of King Mohammed VI's leadership and his central role as a key international peace actor. It also reflects the confidence he enjoys from the President of the United States and from the broader international community. While commending President Donald Trump's vision and engagement in advancing peace initiatives, King Mohammed VI has agreed to join the Council. In this context, the Kingdom of Morocco will proceed with the ratification of the founding charter of the new organization. The Peace Council will be established as an international organization tasked with promoting stability, restoring governance, and fostering lasting peace in regions affected by or at risk of conflict. Its action will be guided by concrete cooperation, operational effectiveness, and partnerships focused on tangible, measurable outcomes. Membership will be granted exclusively by invitation from the President of the United States. Morocco also welcomed the announcement of the launch of the second phase of President Trump's comprehensive peace plan, as well as the creation of a National Committee tasked with administering Gaza as a temporary transitional body. Under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, the Kingdom of Morocco reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the Middle East, based on the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living in peace alongside Israel.
