The 15th session of the Morocco-Senegal Joint Commission saw the signing of 17 agreements on Monday in Rabat, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation. Presided over by Morocco's Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch and his Senegalese counterpart Ousmane Sonko, the ceremony concluded with the signing of a joint communiqué and a formal record. DR ‹ › Seventeen agreements capped the 15th session of the Morocco–Senegal Joint Commission on Cooperation, held Monday in Rabat. Building on a partnership already anchored by more than 140 legal instruments, the new frameworks are expected to further deepen bilateral ties by sustaining high-quality cooperation across a wide range of shared priorities. In this context, National Ports Agency Director General Mustapha Fares and Autonomous Port of Dakar Director General Waly Diouf Bodiang signed a partnership and cooperation agreement between their respective institutions. A separate program covering higher education, scientific research, and innovation for 2026–2028 was also concluded by Moroccan Minister Azzedine Midaoui and his Senegalese counterpart Daouda Ngom. Meanwhile, Morocco's Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour and Senegal's Serigne Gaybio signed a memorandum of understanding on the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, a cooperation agreement on industrial infrastructure, and a protocol on standardization. Morocco's Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests Ahmed El Bouari also co-signed an agricultural cooperation agreement with his Senegalese counterpart Mabouba Diagne, focusing on livestock sectors, animal health, and food safety. Senegal's Minister of Economy, Planning, and Cooperation Abdourahmane Sarr later joined El Bouari to sign an agreement on health controls for fisheries and aquaculture products. Enhanced cooperation through foreign affairs On the diplomatic front, Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad Nasser Bourita and Senegal's Minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs, and Senegalese Abroad Cheikh Niang signed a memorandum of understanding establishing a consular consultation mechanism. Additional instruments included memoranda of understanding on youth affairs, a protocol implementing the agreement on international road transport of passengers and goods, a framework agreement on technical assistance for highways, and a cooperation protocol on the digital economy. The two sides also initialed an MoU on infrastructure, a framework agreement covering vocational training, scholarships, internships, and the sharing of expertise, as well as a joint communiqué. The session concluded with Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch and his Senegalese counterpart Ousmane Sonko co-signing the official minutes. Akhannouch praised the implementation of numerous sectoral programs between the two countries, while an economic forum held on the sidelines of the session underscored the «new momentum» driving Morocco–Senegal relations, particularly for economic operators in both countries.
