DR ‹ › The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced that it has decided to appeal the rulings issued by the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) Disciplinary Board concerning the incidents that occurred during the Africa Cup of Nations final between Morocco and Senegal on Sunday, January 18, 2026. In a statement, the Federation said that the sanctions imposed do not reflect the seriousness of the events, stressing that the decision to appeal stems from its commitment to «defending all rights guaranteed by law». The CAF Disciplinary Committee opted to divide responsibility between the two federations. It ruled to suspend Senegal head coach Pape Bouna Thiaw for five official CAF matches, while players Cheikh Barou Ndiaye and Ismaïla Sarr were each handed two-match bans. The Senegalese Football Federation was also fined $615,000. As for Morocco, the committee decided to suspend Achraf Hakimi for two official CAF matches and Ismaël Saibari for three matches, in addition to imposing a $300,000 fine on the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. The committee also rejected the appeal filed by the FRMF regarding alleged violations by the Senegalese Football Federation of Articles 82 and 84 of the Africa Cup of Nations regulations.
