DR ‹ › The Russian government has officially appointed its representatives to the Russo-Moroccan Joint Fisheries Commission under Decree No. 315, issued on February 19. The body is tasked with overseeing the implementation of the new fisheries cooperation agreement between Moscow and Rabat, Russian media reported. In October 2025, Russia and Morocco signed a new maritime fisheries agreement, marking a fresh phase in their sectoral cooperation. The deal replaces the previous accord signed in Rabat on September 14, 2020, and in Moscow on October 14, 2020. The agreement provides for the creation of a joint commission to ensure strategic and operational oversight of bilateral cooperation. The commission is set to meet annually, with the possibility of holding additional sessions if necessary. Among its main responsibilities, the commission will determine the annual fishing quotas allocated to Russian vessels operating in Morocco's Atlantic fishing zone, including waters off the Sahara. It will also address technical, scientific, and regulatory issues related to the sustainable management of fishery resources.
