DR ‹ › Not a word. On February 23, Bolivia officially announced the suspension of its recognition of the «Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR)». Two days later, the Polisario Front has yet to issue any statement condemning or commenting on the decision taken by La Paz. Media outlets close to the movement have adopted the same cautious stance. They have merely relayed the reaction of former Bolivian president Evo Morales (2006–2019), who criticized the move. «We condemn the decision of the government of Rodrigo Paz to unilaterally suspend diplomatic relations with the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic. This action goes against the principles of our Constitution and Bolivia's democratic and anti-colonial tradition», he wrote on X. It is worth recalling that on January 20, 2020, Bolivia, then under the interim presidency of Jeanine Áñez, had already suspended relations with «SADR». The decision was reversed on September 15, 2021, following the election of Luis Arce, former minister of economy under Evo Morales, who won the presidency in October 2020 under the banner of the Movement for Socialism, the party founded by Morales.
