DR ‹ › Air travel began 2026 on a strong note, with passenger traffic rising by 14.7% in January to exceed 3.1 million travelers for the first time ever in that month, according to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF). This growth was driven by increases in both international passenger traffic (+14.9%) and domestic traffic (+13.1%), the DEPF noted in its February 2026 economic report. By region, the expansion was fueled by sustained growth with Europe (+13.2%), Africa (+28.9%), the Middle and Far East (+15.9%), North and South America combined (+30.7%), and Maghreb countries (+13.7%). Air freight traffic also rose by 7.4% in January 2026. In maritime transport, the volume of commercial traffic handled by Moroccan ports reached 262.6 million tonnes in 2025, up 8.9%, following a 15.2% increase the previous year. The growth was largely driven by transshipment activity, which rose by 14.7% and accounted for 50.5% of total port traffic by the end of 2025. Import traffic increased by 2.8%, exports by 1.4%, and cabotage traffic by 24.3%.
