DR ‹ › Finland's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen, is expected to visit Morocco on March 1. In Rabat, she will meet her Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, to discuss bilateral relations and ways to strengthen trade and investment cooperation, the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs announced in a press release on Friday. The talks will address developments related to Western Sahara, as well as the situation in the Sahel and Sudan. They will also cover key foreign and security policy issues, including Russia's war against Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, and multilateral cooperation. «Finland and Morocco enjoy good bilateral relations that benefit both countries. There is great potential to further expand our cooperation, especially in trade and investments. Morocco is also a key partner for the EU», Valtonen said. In 2024, Finland announced, during a visit by Valtonen, its support for Morocco's 2007 autonomy plan, describing it as «a serious and credible contribution» and «a good basis for a solution», to the Sahara dispute.
