DR ‹ › On March 4th, the Regional Investment Center (CRI) of Marrakech-Safi unveiled the hackathon «Memory, Heritage, Innovation & Investment,» aligning its launch with several significant historical milestones: the 68th anniversary of the visit of King Mohammed V to M'Hamid El Ghizlane and the southern provinces, the 68th anniversary of the Battle of Dcheira, and the 50th anniversary marking the departure of the last foreign soldier from these regions. This event, organized in collaboration with Cadi Ayyad University, Marrakech Innovation City, the Emerging Business Factory, and the Turath Association, seeks to leverage memory and heritage as catalysts for innovation, entrepreneurship, and regional development. It is designed for students, project leaders, entrepreneurs, and creatives, focusing on three core areas: enhancing intangible heritage, conveying national history through innovative solutions, and fostering investment initiatives grounded in national identity, particularly in memorial tourism, the creative economy, and products with deep symbolic significance. The Director General of the CRI highlighted that the region's cultural and historical wealth presents unique opportunities to develop innovative projects with the potential to generate sustainable economic value. He noted that history and local expertise serve as strategic levers when paired with creativity and an entrepreneurial mindset. To recognize the most promising projects, three prizes will be awarded: 50,000, 25,000, and 10,000 dirhams. The winning teams will also receive extensive support, including six months of coworking space, capacity building, specialized mentoring, and assistance through CRI programs such as the Marrakech Invest Academy, Speed Finance, and mechanisms dedicated to SMEs. This hackathon is a testament to the mission of the CRI Marrakech-Safi, a public institution committed to promoting and supporting regional investment while advancing local economic development through innovation and the enhancement of heritage.
