DR ‹ › The South African embassy in Algiers hosted a new edition of the «diplomatic forum» on Tuesday, March 10, aimed at rallying support for the Polisario Front. The gathering brought together «fourteen representatives» from African and South American countries that recognize the «Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR),» according to media close to the movement. This year's meeting was held over a single day, unlike previous editions such as the 2025 forum, which lasted two days. The turnout of Polisario allies was also noticeably smaller, with «14 countries» attending the 2026 edition compared with «around twenty» in February 2025. The March 10 meeting at the South African embassy in Algiers followed the familiar positions of its participants. The final communiqué reiterated the call for «the organization of a self-determination referendum for the Sahrawi people» and voiced support for «the independence of Western Sahara.» According to the same source, this year's «diplomatic forum» was organized hastily. The issue had been discussed two days earlier, on March 8 in Algiers, during a meeting between the South African ambassador and the Polisario's «Minister of Foreign Affairs,» Mohamed Yeslem Beissat.
