DR ‹ › The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Senegal has called on Moroccan nationals residing in the country to exercise restraint, vigilance, and a sense of responsibility, following CAF's decision to award the Africa Cup of Nations' title to Morocco instead of Senegal and the reactions that followed, particularly on social media. In an official statement, the embassy stressed that sport should remain a means of fostering closeness and promoting the values of brotherhood and mutual respect among peoples. It emphasized that the incident remains part of a sporting context and cannot justify any escalation or divisive statements between nations bound by strong historical and human ties. In this context, the embassy urged Moroccan citizens to remain calm and show sound judgment in both their behavior and expressions, including online, while strictly complying with the laws and regulations in force in the host country. It also called for conduct marked by courtesy and respect in all circumstances. The embassy further commended the attention shown by the relevant Senegalese authorities toward Moroccan citizens and their property since the final match. It also called on all citizens to contribute, each in their own way, to easing tensions. «Today, more than ever, the importance of collective action in maintaining a climate of calm and preserving the deep and multifaceted fraternal ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the sister Republic of Senegal is evident», the statement concluded.
