DR ‹ › Morocco served as a key filming location for The Old Stories: Moses, a three-part biblical epic produced by Amazon MGM Studios and American studio The Wonder Project. Although set in ancient Egypt, production relied heavily on Ouarzazate's desert landscapes and Atlas Studios, often dubbed the «Hollywood of the Desert», to recreate Egyptian palaces, temples, and key scenes, including parts of the Nile. Expected to premiere this spring, the series stars Ben Kingsley and is directed by Jon Erwin. Filming also took place in Jordan, Malta, Spain, and the UK. Morocco has long been a favored location for productions centered on the story of Moses. The kingdom previously hosted Moses (1995), also starring Ben Kingsley, Moses the Lawgiver (1974) with Burt Lancaster, and Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014).
