DR ‹ › Morocco's film industry took center stage on Wednesday evening with the official launch of its role as the «Country in Focus» at the European Film Market (EFM). This prestigious event, part of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), drew numerous industry professionals eager to explore Morocco's cinematic landscape. This recognition underscores the international acknowledgment of Morocco's vibrant film industry, which thrives under the strategic vision of King Mohammed VI. «Culture and creative industries are pivotal to Morocco's human, economic, and international development,» stated Zohour Alaoui, Morocco's ambassador to Germany, in an interview with the MAP news agency. Reda Benjelloun, director of the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM), highlighted Morocco's growing appeal to foreign filmmakers. He cited the country's stability, top-notch infrastructure, modern studios, diverse natural landscapes, and exceptional lighting conditions. «The expertise of Moroccan crews is highly valued by international productions,» he told MAP. Throughout the EFM, running from February 12 to 18, Morocco will spotlight its national co-production and financing mechanisms, alongside its prowess in hosting international film shoots. The country has solidified its status as a favored destination for foreign productions. In addition, Ahmed Bouanani's film «The Mirage» (1979) has been chosen for the «Berlinale Classics» section, which honors restored cinematic heritage. The film will have its world premiere in a newly restored version, celebrating its enduring legacy.
