DR ‹ › In the Tindouf camps, unrest is mounting over the recent appointments made by Brahim Ghali in the civil and military ranks. On Friday, the Aousserd camp, situated near the Polisario's administrative hub, became the focal point for tribal gatherings, predominantly involving members of the Oulad Dlim who claim they are being sidelined by the Polisario leadership. Comments obtained by Yabiladi hinted at dissent, yet they stopped short of opposing the Polisario's traditional rhetoric. Still, participants were united in their calls to «end corruption and tribalism», «prosecute the corrupt», «hold free elections to choose new leadership», and «enable young people to assume positions of responsibility». The Front's leadership allowed this assembly of dissenters to proceed. «What is more alarming than this assembly of minorities, who pose no real threat to the internal equilibrium, is the growing discontent among the Rguibates-Cherk (originating from Algeria). Brahim Ghali has excluded them from top positions, favoring his own tribe, the Rguibates-Sahel (from the coast). The anger of this group, which is closely linked to Algerian power, poses a real threat to Brahim Ghali and his circle», a former Front member revealed to Yabiladi. Since the passing of Mohamed Abdelaziz in 2016, Abdellah Lahbib Belal in 2021, Khadija Hamdi in 2025, and the illness of Mohamed Lamine Ould El Bouhabi, the Rguibates-Cherk have found themselves increasingly marginalized from the centers of decision-making. In theory, the next leader of the Polisario should emerge from the Rguibates-Cherk.
