DR ‹ › A series of memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements were signed on Monday in Cairo between Morocco and Egypt, covering several key sectors, during the first session of the Morocco–Egypt Coordination and Monitoring Committee. The meeting was co-chaired by Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch and Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. Among the agreements, a memorandum was signed between the Moroccan Institute for Diplomatic Training and Research and Egypt's Institute for Diplomatic Studies, aiming to strengthen cooperation in training young diplomats and exchanging expertise in diplomacy, international relations, and international law. In the sports sector, both sides agreed to enhance cooperation through the exchange of expertise in sports science and legislation. A similar agreement was reached in housing and urban development, focusing on sharing technical and administrative know-how, promoting investment opportunities, and facilitating visits by investors in infrastructure and housing projects. In tourism, the two countries committed to boosting joint promotion efforts, exchanging data and expertise, and encouraging investment, alongside organizing joint tourism initiatives and training programs. A health and pharmaceutical cooperation protocol was also signed, aiming to improve healthcare services through joint programs, capacity building, and collaboration in medicine and emergency care, as well as sharing expertise in cancer prevention and treatment. Additional agreements covered electricity and renewable energy, customs cooperation to combat fraud and secure trade flows, and industrial collaboration to strengthen and develop the sector in both countries. The two sides also signed a memorandum on combating desertification, focusing on sustainable development, water resource preservation, and the expansion of forests and grazing areas. Cooperation in youth and culture was also reinforced, with agreements promoting exchanges, capacity building, and joint cultural initiatives. Finally, an agreement was signed to boost bilateral investment between Morocco's AMDIE and Egypt's General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, encouraging joint projects, business visits, and expertise sharing. On this occasion, Akhannouch and Madbouly also signed the official report of the committee's first session, marking a new step in strengthening ties between the two countries.
