DR ‹ › A 40-year-old French man was arrested at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport on November 28 as he was attempting to board a flight to Morocco, in a case involving alleged violence against several former partners, French media announced on Wednesday. The suspect, described as a «serial lover», is accused of maintaining multiple relationships simultaneously while allegedly subjecting his partners to physical violence, threats, harassment, and financial fraud. At least four victims are currently part of the judicial proceedings, while investigators believe the total number could reach seven. The man claimed he intended to travel to Morocco to escape what he described as pressure from former partners, as well as judicial and media scrutiny. Following his arrest, he was placed under formal investigation by a Paris investigating judge on charges including violence against a partner resulting in more than eight days of incapacity, repeated death threats, and harassment. While prosecutors initially requested pre-trial detention, a judge ruled instead for his release under strict judicial supervision. He is now subject to several measures, including a ban on contacting the victims, restrictions on movement, and a requirement to undergo psychological treatment. A psychiatric assessment described him as having a «narcissistic profile» and a limited ability to take responsibility for the emotional consequences of his actions. The case also involves allegations of financial exploitation, with some victims claiming losses of several thousand euros, alongside accounts of repeated violence.
