United Nations Tourism Executive Director Natalia Bayona highlighted significant investment opportunities in Morocco's tourism sector, valued at over one billion dollars, during her participation in the International Conference on Technological Innovation and Tourism Investment in Marrakech. This estimation comes as Morocco gears up to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. According to Al Sharq, these investment prospects encompass approximately 229 projects, ranging from hotels and parks to entertainment ventures and conference infrastructure. In a significant development at the conference, the UN Tourism signed an agreement with Morocco's Ministry of Tourism to establish its headquarters in the country, marking the first and only UNWTO office on the African continent. UNWTO data reveals that over the past five years, Morocco has attracted an average of US$3.5 billion annually in foreign direct investment across various sectors. From 2014 to 2023, the tourism sector alone received US$2.2 billion, with new investments projected to reach US$2.6 billion between 2015 and 2024.
