A court in El Jadida has sentenced a fishmonger and father to eight years in prison for luring and sexually assaulting a child under ten. The case started when the child's mother filed a complaint with the police in Bir Jdid. She reported that an unknown man had tried to lure her son while he was playing outside their home. According to the child's account, the man offered him money to follow him to an unfinished residential area, as reported by Assabah newspaper. The child managed to escape and ran to his mother, who was nearby, giving her a detailed description of the suspect. Acting on this information, a security team searched the neighborhood and, with help from informants, identified the suspect—a fish vendor at the local market. The suspect was arrested and placed in provisional detention. He initially denied any involvement but confessed after being confronted with video evidence.
